Obama isn't the first 'messiah' that has suffered plunging public opinion. Although he does break the mold in the sense that most false gods enjoy at least a few years of good will before people begin to see through their facade. Obama has the 3rd lowest approval rating at this point in his presidency since they started keeping track during the Truman administration.
